Mass to change
It appears that we are one step closer to the end, since the Roman Catholic church decided to change the mass. From the source: "Roman Catholic priests will soon be telling their flocks during mass that Christ gave his blood for "many", but not everyone".
My interpretation and how I think this relates to the end of times is simply this: Revelations talks about the mark of the beast, and it's generally accepted that people will be willing and even eager to get this mark.
Now keep in mind that the Roman Catholic church is one of the biggest religious movements apart from Islam in the world.
So my guess is that at some stage the story will go like this: "to ensure you are saved, get your mark here" - with a neon arrow indicating the direction to your closest Catholic church :)
